2023 Disaster Relief - Türkiye and Syria Earthquake (International Nonprofits) Fund

On 6 February 2023, a powerful M7.8 earthquake struck Türkiye's Gaziantep province near the Syrian border, killing thousands of people and injuring thousands more in Turkey and Syria. There have been multiple strong aftershocks, felt as far away as Lebanon, Cyprus, Iraq and Egypt. One of the strongest quakes to hit the region in more than 100 years, it has caused extensive damage of homes, businesses and infrastructure; the death toll is expected to rise as search and rescue operations continue. Türkiye has declared a state of emergency and appealed for international assistance. Cisco Foundation has launched a Türkiye and Syria Earthquake disaster campaign which will support International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, People in Need (Člověk v tísni, o.p.s.), Polish Humanitarian Action, and Toplum Gönüllüleri Vakfı. Cisco employee gifts up to $10,000 will be matched and will not count against your annual $25K match allowance.

Toplum Gönüllüleri Vakfı is mobilizing volunteers to distribute emergency supplies to those in the impacted areas.

Člověk v tísni, o.p.s. (People in Need)

People in Need (Člověk v tísni, o.p.s.) has been working for many years in the areas in Türkiye and Syria affected by the earthquake. They have teams on the ground coordinating with local authorities to perform needs assessments and will assist with providing temporary shelter and other immediate aid, as well as longer-term recovery.

International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies

International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has launched international emergency funding appeals to support the Turkish Red Crescent and Syrian Arab Red Crescent Societies. In Türkiye, teams are deployed in ten affected provinces providing food and essential supplies including tents and blankets; as well as psychological support. In Syria, teams are performing search and rescue operations, providing first aid and emergency medical evacuations, and transporting the injured to hospitals.

PAH - Polish Humanitarian Organisation

Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) has teams on the ground coordinating with local partners to provide support, including safe shelter, food and hygiene products to support survivors in both Türkiye and Syria.
