For the second time in just two weeks Mexico was struck with a destructive earthquake that has taken lives, destroyed homes, and led to widespread trauma. Bright Funds has established the Mexican Earthquake Response and Recovery Fund. This Fund is comprised of pre-vetted nonprofits providing emergency response in the region. Through a single donation to the Fund, you can support multiple organizations’ initiatives to provide short-term and long-term response and recovery. We have initially selected organizations that are providing immediate relief needs, including rescue efforts and medical assistance. Direct Relief

Direct Relief has staff in Mexico City and a presence throughout the country, and a team from Direct Relief was responding to the aftermath of the 8.1 magnitude quake in Oaxaca when the latest temblor struck this afternoon. As the full extent of damage comes into focus, Direct Relief will continue working with medical companies and government agencies in Mexico to bring needed medical supplies to areas of need.

United States Fund for UNICEF

A team of specialists who visited the areas that were impacted the most by the September 7th earthquake, determined that psychosocial support and returning to school as soon as possible are the top priorities. UNICEF is ready to support the Mexican authorities efforts to provide mobile classrooms, by supplying resources through UNICEF’s School in a Box program.
