The W.H.O. has declared COVID-19 a pandemic and public health emergency of international concern. We recognize that each community will have their own set of unique challenges in light of the Coronavirus. Bright Funds Foundation has established the 2020 Bay Area Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund to address the specific needs of the Bay Area community. Through a single donation to the Fund, you can support multiple organizations' initiatives to provide short-term and long-term response and recovery. Given the ever-changing nature of this pandemic and widespread impact, the composition of the nonprofits in this Fund will evolve.

In an area that has brought great opportunity to many, there is still a critical need to invest in solutions to homelessness, hunger, affordable housing, education and unemployment. We can all join the movement started by the tech community to give back to our beloved Bay Area by supporting the organizations working to provide opportunity to everyone. #Sfgives

GitHub employees and a number of victims from other teams participate in an epic Dodgeball tournament. Each team that is entered donates at least $3000 to the charity pot. At the end, all of the donations will be split between 4 pre-choosen charities. In the process, thousands are entertained.

One of the causes that our employees are most passionate about is food insecurity. Our Nourishing Neighbors initiative, started in 2014, enhances the grassroots efforts of our employees through a unified, company-wide strategy. This fund supports organizations that our employees support through our Nourishing Neighbors initiative.

Across the country, many of us are at home, feeling helpless in the face of the COVID-19 crisis. Social distancing is flattening the curve, but we can do more. In the coming weeks, millions of Americans will receive a stimulus check to help cover their living expenses, pay for food, and to support local businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of us may not need that money right now, giving us the opportunity to redirect these funds to local charities that are supporting members of our community who need it more. If you are able, please consider pledging some or all of your stimulus check to provide food, social services, and personal protective equipment to members of the San Francisco community. Your donation will support the COVID-19 relief efforts in San Francisco led by the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank, Safe & Sound (Child Abuse Prevention Center), and Homeless Prenatal Program. Helping to end food insecurity, advance environmental conservation, the protection of civil liberties, and education for America's most underserved communities.

For those of you looking for a way to donate, Bright Funds has put together a COVID-19 Response Fund, comprised of pre-vetted nonprofits based in the United States providing emergency response around the world and in the US focusing on childhood nutrition and supporting healthcare workers. This is just one way you can easily donate and support multiple organizations' initiatives to provide short-term and long-term response and recovery. You can also select other non-profits through the Bright Funds platform, and even create your own Fund with organizations of your choice.

Supporting organizations that are helping provide support to individuals and families impacted by the west coast wildfires and by COVID-19. These organizations are particularly focused on food and supplies for those impacted.

Our goal is to help raise money to provide meals for families at Thanksgiving and to support our local food banks for the East Area!
