From June 6th-10th, over 400 Cisco employees, families, and friends from 21 countries will be hiking the Camino de Santiago in support of the fight against cancer. Our team the “WANderers” – sorry to those in IT, will be hiking 115km of the French route in the aid of Cancer Research UK. Cancer Research UK is an independent charity funding vital research for the treatment and prevention of Cancer, they also contribute to cancer policy, national strategy, and educational communication. Their many contributions to the fight against cancer are best summarised in the following timeline: https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/our-progress The NHS predicts 1 in 2 people will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime, and the World Health Organization accounts cancer to nearly one in six deaths worldwide. I’m certain for many of you these statistics will strike a chord personally, for myself, it took my late Grandfather Lewis Smith - one of the most fantastic men that I’ve known and who continues to be a constant inspiration to this day. Without the incredible work of charities such as Cancer Research UK, this disease is a bleak sentence, so for our time in Camino, we will walk for those researchers and carers who treat and assist our loved ones, and we will walk for those affected by cancer, especially those who no longer can. In June, the Cisco New Zealand team is taking part in a challenge to do 3,139 push-ups in 24 days. That's 131 per day!! We are helping to shine the light on lives lost to suicide and raise awareness of mental health.

The sun is finally coming out and so we thought what better way to celebrate summer and promote good mental health than a steps challenge. The UKI Customer Success team will be challenged throughout the month of June to walk the equivalent distance around Great Britain! This will be tracked and logged by counting daily steps or time done exercising. We will be raising funds and awareness for the mental health charity 'Mind' with the hope of improving our own mental health through exercise and fresh air. THE MISSION OF IACAN is to provide a diverse resource network that will address the distinct cultural and psychosocial needs of people of South Asian descent affected by cancer. The network provides emotional, financial, physical and other forms of support to caregivers, cancer patients, survivors, and family members.

The main purpose of this initiative is to raise funds for cancer support associations across the globe. We have all been impacted in some way by cancer. "Accept what is, let go of what was, and have faith in what will be" From June 06th until June 10th, my colleagues Ivan Alba, Paola D'Attilia and I together with other Cisco Employees will be taking on a fantastic adventure. As a united front, we will walk The Camino de Santiago, also known as the Way of St James. This initiative will allow us to replicate the adventure of hiking the famous pilgrims’ way in north-western Spain, popularly known as "The Way of Saint James" while raising funds for Cancer Support Associations.​ The 3 of us have chosen the Portuguese Coastal Way that will lead us ultimately to our final destination in Santiago de Compostela​ We've decided to dedicate this adventure in supporting cancer research as this is a cause we fill very close to our hearts and families.

I will walk from Porto to Santiago de Compostela to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society which is an important cause to me and my family. My Camino will take me almost 2 weeks to cover the 250km and I will be doing it carrying my rucksack on my back.

Dedicated to ensuring all people have the ability to decide when and how to build their families, regardless of race, income, location, age, gender, sexuality, disability, documentation status, or number of children.

The EMEAR IT Transformation team is going to walk "El Camino" in May 2022! We have planned a route covering 166km in 6 days from A Guarda in Southern Galicia on the border with Portugal to Santiago de Compostela between 18th May and 23rd May. Walking the Portuguese coastal route is our opportunity to raise money for the Spanish Cancer Association, who do excellent work in supporting cancer sufferers and their families as well as funding research into improved diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

During the period of the Camino, the combined team will walk more than 60,000 km, or 37,000 miles; equivalent to walking around the earth's equator one and a half times. The main purpose of this initiative is to raise funds for cancer support associations across the globe. We all have been impacted in some way by cancer, and in support of the efforts of "Los Caminantes", we are asking you to join us in the fight against cancer. We will walk an average of twenty-three kilometers per day. Every 5 minutes, which is equivalent to every 500 meters of walking, someone in the Netherlands gets diagnosed with cancer. For each day we walk, 46 people will have gotten bad news that severely disrupted their and their loved ones' lives. Every amount donated to this cause will help! It can make a difference to someone facing one of the most difficult times of their life or to help make their last moments on earth count. I'm excited to share that I've joined the American Heart Association’s 2022 Woman of Impact campaign. I will be fundraising over the next few weeks starting today, to support the mission of the Go Red Campaign in building healthier lives free of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Back in 2021, Nikola was diagnosed with Craniopharyngioma, 5cm tumor in his brain. As a result, his brain was full of water; he was suffering hormonal disbalance, long-term dehydration and other negative consequences, because of the effects caused by the tumor. Radiotherapy was performed, 30 sessions of it within June 2021. After the end of the Radiotherapy, another MRI was done, which showed that the 3.5cm tumor had stopped growing. However, another inflamed zone with the size of 9mm in December 2021 had emerged. Nikola has an offer from Acibadem hospital in Istanbul, Turkey to operate urgently the 9mm tumor. Unfortunately, the amount of 39 100.00 Euro needed for the surgery is unaffordable for his family.

My daughter Emily has signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and is working to raise as much as possible by April 10th. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for her campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year. Support from Team Cisco would really help her reach her overall target of raising $20,000.

We have been working in Mumbai, India to feed the hungry. 350+ families ( approx 1400 individuals) living in the slum areas of Jogeshwari received food kits. The migrant workers, house helps, construction workers are all facing a difficult time and need your support. Now we like to extend this initiative to USA by working with other non profits like West Valley Community Services , Abode Services in fighting poverty by providing critical food, housing, and support services to the low income and homeless individuals and families in the West Valley communities of Cupertino, Fremont, Saratoga, and West San Jose.

We are a team of six Cisco Employees who are walking 25km on 9 April to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society. Some of you will remember in 2019 we did a similar challenge and the support was overwhelming. As the UK emerges from 2 years of Covid, we decided to challenge ourselves again to keep fit, and in the spirit of giving, support a charity (as many have suffered from a drop in donations through the last couple of years). Alzheimer's is still close to all our hearts so we decided to raise money for this really worth while cause. Celebrated annually on 16 October, World Food Day promotes global awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger, and to highlight the need to ensure healthy diets for all. Collective action across 150 countries is what makes World Food Day one of the most celebrated days of the United Nations’ calendar. Hundreds of events and outreach activities bring together governments, businesses, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), the media, and general public. They promote worldwide awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure healthy diets for all. Every year in May, Mental Health Awareness Month provides a dedicated time to raise awareness about the realities of individuals living with mental illness and ways to manage and achieve mental wellness, while promoting early detection in our youth. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on the mental health of people of all ages. In November 2020, the CDC reported that 44% of Americans were coping with either depression or anxiety, and our communities continue to feel those effects today. Now, more than ever, it is critical to reduce the stigma around mental health struggles -- because that stigma often prevents individuals from seeking help. Bright Funds has established the Mental Health Awareness Month Fund composed of pre-vetted nonprofits committed to raising mental health awareness. Through a single donation to the Fund, you will support a group of nonprofits that are providing direct services, conducting research, and educating the masses in order to challenge myths, biases, and discrimination about what mental health is - and what it is not.
