The invasion of Ukraine by Russia is an ongoing humanitarian crisis that simply cannot be ignored. The displaced people and refugees of Ukraine are given hot meals by the team at World Central Kitchen. Families and Children receive psychosocial support, shelter and food from Save the Children.

Chevra is a Hebrew word for friendship. Since 2001, Chevra has officially operated as a 501(c)3 in the US for the purpose of raising funds to provide humanitarian relief, food security, and immigration support to the neediest Jewish people in eastern Europe. Since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine, the number of displaced Ukrainians has skyrocketed from 125,000 (as a result of Russia's occupation of Crimea and Donbass region) to more than 3 million. Everyday we are seeing and hearing stories of desperate people fleeing Ukraine. I will be running the Bracknell Half Marathon on 15th May. Monies raised will be matched by my employer, Cisco, and go to relief charities supprting those who have lost everything in this unnecessary war.

Join ICON this year with an engaging fun run (5K) and live concert as we raise money for ICRC and their international efforts in their humanitarian efforts. All entrants for this 5K are asked to donate $5 and will be entered to participate in a raffle prize after completing the 5K.

Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, over 7 million people have fled Ukraine and nearly 18 million Ukranians are in need of humanitarian aid. Bright Funds has established the Ukraine Humanitarian Support Fund, composed of pre-vetted nonprofits committed to providing this critical aid to Ukrainians. Through a single donation to the Fund you will support a group of nonprofits that are mobilizing resources to help those who are most vulnerable during this conflict.

This fundraising is for the year 2022 Thank you for the overwhelming support for the COVID relief funds for AID India. The impact of your donation has been widespread, these efforts will help India to fight off the Omicron variant currently spread across the world. Most of the giving in 2021 has happened towards COVID support. But several non-COVID projects across India have been impacted by a lack of funds. Cisco is excited to collaborate with the San Francisco 49ers on Wheels for Refugees, a bike building event benefiting the International Rescue Committee (IRC). The IRC is working across the arc of the Afghanistan crisis by providing food, cash and other aid in Afghanistan itself while also helping to resettle Afghans who have arrived in the United States. As many Afghans have fled the country to build new lives in the United States, the IRC in Northern California will help four times the typical number of refugees placed each month. The IRC has shared that their greatest need is for bicycles to provide the refugees as a means of transportation for school and work in their new community. Cisco and the 49ers have come together to support this urgent need through a bike building event on December 16th. The event will look to provide about 50 bicycles to refugee families in the Bay Area. In addition to hosting the event, Cisco is providing a cash donation to purchase the bikes & further support the IRC’s mission. The road to recovery for Afghanistan will be a long one. Under the rule of the Taliban, the future of the economy, and the ability to secure food, fuel, and housing remains uncertain. Continuing this effort will ensure that we can support Afghans in the long run. UPDATE 8/18: I spoke with the Australian Mahboba's Promise team this morning. Their office in Afghanistan has reported they cannot keep up with the demand for help. Please continue to keep them in your thoughts and distribute this fund to your friends and colleagues. We can't thank you enough. Due to the conflict between the Taliban and the Afghan government, 900 families near the Kabul Hope House orphanage are in desperate need of our help and have set up a makeshift camp. For $150 dollars, we can provide food, shelter, water, clothes and sandals for one family for three months. We have a goal to raise $135,000 to create a camp to provide adequate needs and basic necessities for 3 months for all 900 families. On World Humanitarian Day August 19, the world commemorates humanitarian workers killed and injured in the course of their work, and we honour all aid and health workers who continue, despite the odds, to provide life-saving support and protection to people most in need. This year World Humanitarian Day comes as the world continues to fight the COVID-19 pandemic over recent months. Aid workers are overcoming unprecedented access hurdles to assist people in humanitarian crises in 54 countries, as well as in a further nine countries which have been catapulted into humanitarian need by the COVID-19 pandemic. This day was designated in memory of the 19 August 2003 bomb attack on the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq, killing 22 people, including the chief humanitarian in Iraq, Sergio Vieira de Mello. In 2009, the United Nations General Assembly formalized the day as World Humanitarian Day.

A Mercy Corps virtual engagement and volunteer activity Join Mercy Corps, for an engaging activity that borrows from the curriculum of their Family Superhero program in Jordan, where they are helping Syrian families cope with the big, complex emotions that come with prolonged stress through art. Aiming to be light and fun, each participant will walk away with tools to better express difficult and complex emotions, develop language for feelings, and help to create a safe space at home. The people of Nicaragua suffered to major hurricane coming to shore within weeks of each other. Both struck within 15 miles of each other and ripped through the country and have left many people without food or shelter.   By distributing food, water filters, personal hygiene kits, medical assistance, and assisting rebuilding communities, we can help bring hope to the hopeless.

After enduring more than a week of violent clashes between federal and regional forces, civilians in the Tigray region of Ethiopia are in crisis. Communication networks are down, banking services are halted, roads are blocked and there are shortages of basic supplies. Fearing for their lives and the lives of their families, thousands of children, women and men have been forced to flee into Sudan. UNHCR urgently need to scale up supplies so that they are ready to respond as the situation worsens. More than 30,000 refugees have arrived in Sudan exhausted and scared and are being sheltered in transit centers near the border. Water and meals are being provided and UNHCR and the Sudanese authorities are working around the clock to set up a new refugee site to shelter them. Your donation will allow UNHCR to continue to provide urgent, lifesaving help to refugees.
